WHO ATTACKED CONOR MCGREGOR?
A big announcement is coming and we’ll need a World Championship #1 contender… So how will we deal with this issue? In the main event of course!
But before that went down, we open the show with Tegan Nox in her typical arrogant fashion addressing us. The US champ claimed she’s the greatest holder of that belt ever that no one can step up to Team Kick. But Bianca Belair didn’t get the message. The super athlete joined Nox in the ring and told her it would be Belair who will end Nox’s reign with the title. Nox was, of course, not sold, but Belair gave us all a reason to believe she might be able to back up her claims.
Shayna Baszler entered the ring for her scheduled match with Belair and almost as soon she did, she was on her back. Belair took it straight to the Queen of Spades and pinned her with the Kiss of Death. Could Belair really be on track to battle Tegan Nox for the title? Well Nox wasn’t going to wait as she hit the ring after the match and attacked Belair.
In case you were wondering, the Usos did, indeed, hear the brash arrogance of The Mighty Don’t Kneel last week and, as expected, they did not back down. The Usos debuted some new belts to show a new era of the Tag Team Championships during an entrance that was about as long as their match. The champs showed why they’re so dangerous when they beat War Machine in under two minutes with a Jimmy Uso Tequila Sunrise. The ball is now in TMDK’s court…
Backstage, World Champion Aleister Black gave his thoughts on the upcoming #1 contenders match. As we might expect, Black was eager to face his next challenger and called whoever gets his hand raised “the most dangerous man in the company.”
We got to that #1 contenders match and what a treat it was. Four of the hungriest, most talented men in the company battled for a shot at the World Champ but only one could win. Will Ospreay was first to hit the showers of the four after Zack Sabre Jr. tapped him out with a modified armbar. Drew McIntyre was next after WALTER nearly decapitated the massive Scotsman with a lariat. WALTER easily shook off Zack Sabre Jr.’s octopus stretch submission and the two set up for a long drawn out battle. But Sabre seemed to have a trick up his sleeve as Mob partner Conor McGregor was meant to come out to support his teammate. However, as McGregor was making his way out to the ring, he was attacked by CM Punk, the man McGregor had beaten two weeks prior. With no support, Sabre was lost against the much larger Austrian, and WALTER ended the submission master’s night with a powerbomb.
The way ahead gets more clear by the day and now we know Aleister Black’s next major opponent. Next week, the World Champion will battle Keith Lee in non-title action, TMDK takes on War Machine and CM Punk returns to in-ring action!
