STORMCHASER: SYDNEY IS HERE!!

It’s time for the biggest event in Academy history!! Grudge matches, title bouts and two legends battle one last time!

We begin the show with one of the most bloody rivalries we’ve ever seen in the Academy when La Tortuga Roja battled his former student Jackel no DQ. Roja treated us all to one of the most unexpected performances in recent memory. The veteran turned back that clock as he dove through the ropes for a DDT (we’ll see that again later) and kicked out of the Rolling Thunder. Roja decided against his better judgement to use a weapon on his student in favor of teaching the young luchador a lesson and it paid off. Roja looked like his old self until he hit the Chapoteo to win. Both men now have a win against the other and Jackel didn’t take too kindly to the upset as he used a chair to beat down his former mentor after the match.

Next up came the Women’s Title bout between champion Lazzara and challenger Yamamoto. The champ took the teenager to school in the match, avoiding the Rainmaker multiple times and hitting the Make My Fortune twice to win and retain. Starting today, we’ll have full title histories for all the championships in the Academy so Lazzara will be recognized as the first Academy champion in the modern era.

MidNight came out with a big announcement to make. And he did not disappoint. He acknowledged how much the underground wrestling scene has shaped the GAW Academy and he wanted to pay tribute to that as the man with the best record in the company. To do so, he unveiled the RAW Championship, one of the most prestigious championships in the underground scene. He explained he brought it to GAW, now the home of so many underground legends, to further add to the legend of the title. For his first match with the championship, he challenged a man who, in his words, exemplifies everything the RAW Title is about. Lee Carr answered the call and the two battled for the newest GAW championship. MidNight claimed victory with the Sleep Walker, but the action wasn’t done yet. Oliver Parker, after months away from the company, jumped the barricade and attacked Carr. He speared Carr through a table in the corner and officially took revenge on Carr after the Ultimate Cinderella upset Parker in the Stormchaser Tournament.

No one believed the rivalry between Garrett Gibson and Kurt Andrews would become so toxic but yet it seemed like the two were ready to tear each other apart. In the longest bout of the night the two beat each other to pulps, each avoiding each other’s biggest moves and kicking out of some of the most devastating offense you will ever find. Also during the match we interviewed Flyboy and it… didn’t go well; you’ll have to watch to find out why! Finally, the end of the classic match came when Andrews climbed to the top rope to hit a Phoenix Splash, one of the first times we’ve ever seen him do that. Andrews won the newly designed Academy Championship and now he, like Lazzara, will be recognized as the first Academy champion in the modern era.

Next up came the first ever Tag Team Power Rankings and we will list them here:

5) Drummond & Danielson

4) Woods Club

3) Lieter & Dagonite

2) Wesley & Omega

1) WAR

The top two teams come Bash at the Beach will fight for the newly reactivated Academy Tag Team Championships.

After a look back at how Yun-Son Park earned the amount of respect he’s gotten during his career (which is well worth a watch), we finally arrive at our main event. Yun-Son Park. Eddie Hernandez. One Last Time. Two out of three falls. It’s a match months in the making and it, much like this show, did not disappoint. Park hit the DDT through the ropes and a Miracle from LA after both men had dodged each other’s finishing move once to pick up the first fall. The brawl continued all over the ring and ringside area with both men showing each other so much respect. Finally, Hernandez dropped Park with a discus knee and hit the Driveby to win the second fall. The decisive fall was contested at a mile a minute, but it was ultimately Yun-Son Park who hit the Miracle From LA for the second time to win the third fall and the match. The two men put on a phenomenal show. This match, and this event more broadly, will live on in our memories for a long time.
