THE FALLOUT FROM STORMCHASER: SYDNEY
Fittingly, our new Academy Champion begins the show tonight! Kurt Andrews became the first champion in the modern era and he began his reign by thanking all the fans who helped him do it. He vowed to lead the Academy forward but, unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear the rest of his plans. Oliver Parker, the man who attacked Lee Carr and put him in the hospital last week, made his way down to the ring. Parker told the new champ that he can’t be legitimate until he faces Parker himself. Andrews did agree but made sure to tell Parker he still believed in men earning their keep in the Academy. Later on in the show we would learn that the winner of our main event will fight Oliver Parker in two weeks for #1 contendership!
Our first match saw Kaitlyn Dunlap and Katana settle their month-long feud in a steel cage. After weeks of attack, Dunlap finally met the woman who beat her twice inside the cold steel. It was a fast paced match with both women trying to get the crucial upper hand. The end finally came when Dunlap yanked Katana off the cage and hit the Kiss My Boot for the three count.
Backstage, Katherine Sakamoto reminds us all she has beaten Yamamoto and Lazzara and she deserves a title shot for it.
Garrett Gibson intended to address all his fans who saw him fall just short in Sydney but he never got the chance. Lancelot, who hasn’t been seen in GAW since the first episode of Dark nearly two months ago, assaulted Gibson with a fire extinguisher. Who knows what the underground legend’s plan is now?
From one underground legend to another, MidNight defends his RAW Championship for the third time in seven days against Stefford Drummond. It would be an unheard-of week in GAW if MidNight retained and he did just that with a Sleep Walker.
Our main event sees Scott Danielson take on Lars Nightfall. As we know from earlier, the winner of this bout will face Oliver Parker in a #1 contenders match in two weeks. While we’re not clear whether the two men knew about the stakes before the match began, they certainly fought like they did. After a true battle, Nightfall hoisted up the former champ for a Nightmare and picked up the win.
Next week, we’ll see Jackel return to action and a four-way dance for the right to face MidNight for the RAW Title at Bash at the Beach!
