PLANS FOR WORLD CHAMPIONS
Northern Lights is just weeks away and that means things are coming into focus for the top wrestlers of Friday Night Storm. Bobby Lashley and Conor McGregor have promised Bandido’s title reign will come to an end soon and Lashley proved he is still one of the most dangerous men in the world. He took on Pete Dunne in the opener and, as well as Pete Dunne has wrestled this year, Lashley was not to be denied on this occasion. He ran through the Brusierweight, pinning him with a spear in a dominant performance.
Backstage, Jay White acknowledged Damian Martinez’s challenge last week but he put one significant obstacle in his enemy’s way: Martinez will have to beat Drew McIntyre in a street fight. While Martinez has beaten the Scotsman before, doing the same in a street fight is a tall task. That match will go down next week.
The Lucha Brothers challenged the Usos a couple weeks ago and now they have to prove they have what it takes to be tag champs again as they battle the B Team. Even though Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel have looked good in GAW, this night belonged to the Mexican phenoms. They looked excellent throughout, finally winning with the devastating thrust kick/Fear Factor combo.
With no clear challenger for World Champion Aleister Black in view right now, the champ has taken matters into his own hand. He announced a three-way match featuring Matt Hardy, Zack Sabre Jr and Keith Lee next week. The winner will fight for the World Championship at Northern Lights.
But that’s not the only way to get into the World Title picture at Northern Lights. We already have one competitor in the Challenger Briefcase ladder match and we are about to find another. Will Ospreay battled PAC, the winner of the first Challenger Briefcase and former World Champion, to gain entry into the second fight for the briefcase. Both men were pushing hard to gain the momentum and it seemed PAC had gotten the upper hand when he spun himself out of a potentially devastating crucifix bomb. But Ospreay recovered quickly, hitting a snap German suplex and a Tower of London to win and punch his ticket to Northern Lights.
Backstage, Ruby Riott confronted US Champion Rosita. In so many words, Riott made it clear she would be Rosita’s next challenger for the US Title.
In our main event, Ember Moon gets the opportunity to fight the World Champion herself in an eliminator match. Even with Tegan Nox’s help, Kai looked outmatched. It seems her opponents are starting to figure her out and even her cheating ways can’t stop them. Moon looked down at the champ from the top rope and got gold in her eyes. She hit the Eclipse and became the first person in over six months to pin Dakota Kai. This confirms Ember Moon will fight Dakota Kai for the World Title at Northern Lights!
Next week, we will see two Challenger Briefcase ladder match qualifiers as Cody Rhodes takes on Adam Cole and Pete Dunne battles his tag team partner Tyler Bate!
