In a match rapidly filling with competitors who have never won a World Championship, we will add one more. Cody Rhodes and Adam Cole fight for a spot in the Challenger Briefcase ladder match at Northern Lights. These two have had incredible matches in the past and this one was no different. Cody Rhodes proved it may be his time now as he hit the Cross Rhodes to earn his spot in that match. During the match, however, we were shown a disturbing image of Rey Mysterio in severe pain backstage. The culprit is unkown…
Backstage, Dakota Kai lays into her Team Kick “teammates” for not helping her last week when she lost to Ember Moon. She promises Moon will never be World Champion.
Damian Martinez can earn a match with Jay White at Northern Lights with a win over Drew McIntyre in a street fight but that is much easier said than done. However, Martinez was potentially helped out by Jay White himself! Martinez started off white hot and managed to hit South of Heaven on the big Scottsman. White appeared and stopped Martinez from going for the cover. Martinez turned his back to McIntyre but he had not stopped paying attention. McIntyre ran in for a spear to Martinez’s back but the infamous one moved sending the Scot into his tag team partner. Martinez caught McIntyre backing up and hit the Reckoning for the win. Martinez has his match at Northern Lights.
We see Bandido backstage frantically searching for the party responsible for the heinous attack on his mentor.
Tag team partners collide with a Northern Lights ticket on the line as Pete Dunne takes on Tyler Bate in a ladder match qualifier. Both men seem to be moving more into the singles arena and Pete Dunne would not be denied on this night. The Bruiserweight hit the Bitter End to lock up his spot in that match.
Backstage, Bandido has found Conor McGregor. The Intercontinental Champ laid into the Irishman but he let his emotions get the best of him. He didn’t see Bobby Lashley run into the room and couldn’t defend himself when Lashley tackled him to the ground. McGregor laughed over him, all but confirming it was McGregor and Lashley who attacked Mysterio earlier.
In our main event, Matt Hardy, Zack Sabre Jr and Keith Lee fight for a chance to challenge World Champion Aleister Black at Northern Lights. At least, we though it would be those three. When Keith Lee’s music hit, it was the vile WALTER who walked out. Keith Lee was writhing in pain backstage as WALTER took his spot in that match. The giant Austrian was too much for both Hardy and Sabre. Hardy was gone early but the submission master made it interesting. The two fought outside the ring in a hellacious war which featured both men forcing the other to tap out to meaningless submissions. It seemed as though Zack Sabre may have a chance… But as soon as he got our hopes up, WALTER shut them down. The 300 pounder flew from the top rope and crashed down on the former cruiserweight champ to win.
As of now, WALTER will be facing Aleister Black at Northern Lights.
