CONQUER THE BEAST?
The show begins with Kofi Kingston addressing the actions of Brock Lesnar in the past couple weeks. Kingston has been beaten down twice by the Beast but he challenged the new World Champ to a match to prove he’s no pushover.
Our first match sees the tag champions Usos back in action to take on the B Team. B Team came up well short against the champs a couple months ago but today was a much different story. The B Team pushed the Usos to their limit but the champs, as they so often are, were ready for the challenge. They survived everything the B Team had and Jey Uso ultimately locked in the dangerous Tequila Sunrise to secure the win.
Backstage, Rey Mysterio congratulated Bandido on an incredible performance at Northern Lights but warns the young champ more eyes will be on him now than ever before.
Dakota Kai promised to punish Ronda Rousey last week and this week she gets her wish as Rousey was forced to take on Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shaffir in a handicap match. At least, Kai thought it was a punishment… Rousey took both women to the cleaners, tapping out Duke in less than three minutes with a Rear Naked Choke. Maybe Kai has bitten off a little more than she can chew with Rousey.
Backstage, Paul Heyman finds Kofi Kingston. He told the former IC champ he and Brock Lesnar respect him and his attacks were not personal. But then came the bombshell: Lesnar accepts Kingston’s challenge and has gone one step further: he will put his World Title on the line. That match is coming in the main event!
PAC tries to continue his winning ways against Matt Hardy. Both men are former champions in GAW and both men have had a disappointing Season 2. This match was an absolute barn-burner, unexpectedly so. But after nine minutes it was a stalemate after multiple super-plexes from PAC and multiple Side Effects from Hardy. But PAC showed how he’s truly reinvented himself, shaking off Hardy’s Twist of Fate attempt and hitting the Black Arrow to win.
Our main event is finally here, Kofi Kingston takes on Brock Lesnar in the Beast’s first World Title defense. It was a shocking moment for everyone except for Lesnar. Heyman has warned us all this is a different Brock Lesnar and he was right. Kingston tried everything to bring down the former UFC heavyweight champ but nothing worked. Eventually, Lesnar got the fan favorite on his shoulders to deliver a thunderous F5. In just two weeks Lesnar has picked up his first defense of the title.
Next week, we’ll see the members of TMDK and War Machine battle in singles action plus the Women’s World Champ will be in action!
