WHAT WILL COLE AND THE B&G DO NOW??
We’re a week removed from a crazy After Party event and we begin with a dream match with its roots all the way back at Bash at the Beach. Drew McIntyre takes on WALTER and it was just as hard hitting and violent as you would expect. The match very nearly went the distance with McIntyre even surviving three straight powerbombs from the Ring General. McIntyre thought he had ended the bout when he locked WALTER in the No True Scotsman, but the Austrian turned the tables. He escaped the dangerous hold and leveled the wXw champ with massive lariat. He ended the fight with a rear naked choke. Afterword, however, he was confronted by new World Champion Adam Cole. Cole seemed to extend an offer to join the Black and Gold if WALTER gives up his pursuit of the World Title, but he did nothing to protect his potential ally when McIntyre attacked him from behind. The disgruntled champion put WALTER in the No True Scotsman again while Cole did nothing.
Next up, Ember Moon puts her US Title on the line against former champion Rosita. This was also a back and forth affair between two of the most athletic women in GAW. Rosita avoided the Eclipse and escaped the Fallen Skies and very nearly won the title back with a quick flurry of strikes. Moon answered back and when both women went for big strikes, the champ’s experience shined through. She blasted Rosita with a kick to the face and, after a war for the title, that was enough to put Rosita away.
Backstage, the smartest man in wrestling William Regal tracked down Drew McIntyre. What started as a potential confrontation between the two Europeans ended with a Regal pitch to help McIntyre beginning with Battle at Broadway. Only time will tell if the wXw champ will listen.
Nick Grey also caught up with Claudio Castagnoli, who said he is not done with Sabin as he came within a half second of winning the Intercontinental Title. But for now, he will try to track down the men in black who attacked him in Miami and advised Sabin to watch his back as well.
Davey Richards was called out by Will Ospreay a couple weeks ago and, just as we’ve come to expect, Richards let his actions do the talking against Damian Martinez. This was also a hard-hitting affair that we’ve come to expect from this show, Richards even took to the skies with a vicious tope suicida, obviously assuming Ospreay was watching and wanting to send a message. After several different submission attempts, Richards went back to the tried and true ankle lock to force Martinez to tap. Ospreay came out immediately afterword to size up Richards but their confrontation was cut as the show was interrupted by a chilling video.
Backstage, War Machine brushed off Moustache Mountain’s potential claim for a rematch and outright challenged the Usos, the men who had ran the GAW tag team division for two years.
In the main event, Bandido tries to bring more gold to GAW when he takes on Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship. One of the most famous titles in the world took center stage for the first time ever on a GAW show and these two athletes did not disappoint. This matched the opening match for violence but, as we’ve come to expect, the athleticism and speed of the competitors was at another level. This match is worth every second of watch time as both men tried everything to win from submissions to 22Plexes to massive dives. At the end of it all, however, it was Bandido who stood tall. He flew off the top rope with Ishimori in a spectacular avalanche fallaway slam to finally get the three count and win the title. Bandido joins Drew McIntyre as the only men to hold another promotion’s title in GAW and the sky is the limit for the young superstar as he captures his second different title in the space of a year.
