WE'RE HEADED TO BROADWAY!
With just two shows to go before Battle at Broadway, some of the top Storm wrestlers found out on this episode that their roads to the Manhattan Center will be anything but clear. First, it was War Machine who challenged the Usos last week. Well, this week the two-time Tag Team Champions answered to uproarious cheers and accepted War Machine’s challenge. But Moustache Mountain interrupted the party, showing video evidence that the referee at After Party missed Trent Seven grabbing the rope during the match’s final pinfall. The Brits from the Black and Gold said this evidence proves they deserve a rematch for the titles and the Usos called their bluff, saying they would gladly fight both teams to reclaim the tag titles.
Next up, Kacy Catanzaro steps into the ring against Willow Nightingale making her GAW debut. Catanzaro clearly wanted to face a much bigger and stronger opponent and she showed she was ready for that as well as anything, completely dominating Nightingale en route to locking in her newest submission for the win. After the match, Taryn Blake caught up with Ember Moon who had made some inflammatory comments about Catanzaro at a press conference earlier this week. Moon said she is the first US Champion since Rousey to truly be on the World Champion’s level but she’s not getting respected like that. Catanzaro came up behind her and challenged her to a match for the World Title at Broadway, a match that could make Moon the first ever dual-champion in the history of the GAW women’s division.
Next up, WALTER takes on Black and Gold standout Bobby Fish. The match was a technical masterclass that featured both men surviving each others’ biggest moves. WALTER hit nearly a dozen powerbombs during the course of the contest and it finally became too much for Fish to handle as the Ring General picked up the win.
Chris Sabin refuses to back down against Matt Riddle and they will meet at Broadway after a passionate Sabin speech. But during Sabin’s statement, Claudio Castagnoli was apparently attacked once again by the men in black who were seen fleeing the scene where Castagnoli was laid out unconscious.
Speaking of Matt Riddle, he took on Wildcat Chris Harris as a tuneup before Riddle’s IC Title match in two weeks. Riddle was absolutely ruthless, beating Harris with a GTS/German suplex combination that may have broken Harris’s neck.
Conor McGregor was challenged by CM Punk a couple weeks ago and, today, we learned he would accept that challenge at Battle at Broadway. However, the Champ Champ may have more sinister plans as he alluded to a grander Proper 12 Locker Room agenda in this match.
In the main event, old British rivals Will Ospreay and Pete Dunne clash, both men looking to make a statement. Ospreay controlled the early stages of the match but Dunne gained control with a Bitter End. Though it didn’t finish the match, it put Dunne on top for a long stretch. But if we know anything about Ospreay, it’s that if you give him an inch in a match he will make you pay. Ospreay came all the way back and hit the Stormbreaker and it seemed as if the contest was over… but someone else had other plans. The lights cut out and, when they came back on after a few seconds, Ospreay was out in the middle of the ring. Dunne, ever the opportunist, made the cover to win but the question remains: who took Ospreay out?
