TOTALLY NEW FACES OF THE EVOLUTION

Battle at Broadway is in the rear-view mirror now and Evolution came out of the historic event with four new champions. We only saw one of those champions in person on this show but it was clear Evolution has a very new attitude. It was clear from very early on, as well, when Marco Diaz took the ring to begin the show. Diaz owned up to being behind the bounty on former Apex Champion Derrick Cole before introducing his secret weapon, the brains behind the operation: TJ Frost. The two explained they came together to put Cole in the most vulnerable position possible for PBD to finish him off and take his title. Diaz said he and the rest of the Las Vegas Connection had been expecting Cole to lift the whole group up as champion; however, according to Diaz, Cole left them behind so they sought out TJ Frost’s help. But when Diaz tried to introduce the men who actually cost Cole his title, they didn’t show. Cole got the jump on Shawn Alexander and Jacob Ace backstage and promised Diaz and Frost that more of that is coming.

The first match of the day sees Andrew Wesley return to singles action for the first time this season against rookie Marlon Wright. Wright was desperate to make a statement after narrowly missing out on the Rookie of the Year knockout stage but, unfortunately for him, Andrew Wesley was too much to handle on this occasion. Wesley defeated him with a brutal combination of moves culminating with a double knee gutbuster.

We saw video footage of Yamamoto being attacked before her match with Kaitlyn Dunlap at Broadway where Dunlap won the Rise Championship. The question going forward is how Moto will respond with controversy now surrounding the new champion. We also saw Omega Woods approach Ramon Gutierrez backstage and offer him a shot at the RAW Title. He told Gutierrez to earn it in a match next week although we don’t know what exactly that match entails.

Lars Nightfall, one of the scariest men in wrestling, steps in against the giant giant killer Dagonite. We found out exactly what we were in for when Nightfall hit a Naked Prelude within the first 10 seconds. The match was as good as we could have hoped for with both men pulling out every stop and landing strikes that would have caved in the chests of almost any other competitor. But Dagonite made one fatal miscalculation as he tried for his spectacular rope-balanced superkick. Nightfall pulled him down and ended him with a modified Nightmare for the win.

In the main event, five men squared off in a battle royal for Apex title #1 contendership. Max Ultimate, Eddie Hernandez, Lee Carr, Chandler Marcy and a returning Oliver Parker entered the ring to fight for the right to face Kurt Andrews in two weeks. It seemed that Parker was the overwhelming favorite going in but Max Ultimate had other plans. Marcy eliminated Hernandez and then it was Ultimate’s turn as he eliminated Lee Carr soon afterword. He hit a Max Damage on Parker to truly take control. After a few more minutes of fighting, Ultimate eliminated Parker, hit Marcy with a Max Damage and eliminated him in quick succession to win. Ultimate came out to the match with a video reading “Stun the World” and he certainly did. He will move on to face new champion Kurt Andrews at Evolution: 7 Days on Halloween.
