ANDREWS MIGHT BE IN TROUBLE ALREADY!
There is only one thing to say… MidNight might be in trouble. It was announced he will face Kendrick Gore at 7 Days next week and, today, we got to see Gore in a match for the first time. He entered to near silence as the crowd stood in awe of his presence. He absolutely destroyed Joshua Moore in in a complete domination. Moore fought hard but there was nothing he could do against Gore’s imposing power. MidNight, as we all expected, put on a brave face later in the show, claiming there’s nothing Gore can do to phase him… but you’d have to be foolish to believe the intimidation factor won’t be an issue in their match.
After the opening contest, the new Apex Champion’s music hit and Kurt Andrews came down to the ring. He proceeded to eviscerate his 7 Days opponent Max Ultimate to a raucous chorus of boos from the fans. But Ultimate wasn’t going to take the insults lying down. The challenger came out and seemed to strike a nerve with Andrews when he pointed out the champ has been the beneficiary of some pretty convenient coincidences during his three title reigns. While the two did not come to blows you could cut the tension between them with a knife… only their title match can separate the two gladiators.
Derrick Cole tries for his first measure of revenge against former LVC brother Shawn Alexander. Alexander was trying to follow in the footsteps of his teammate Jacob Ace, who pulled off one of the upsets of the season when he beat Eddie Hernandez. Cole proved to be a totally different animal in this match, however, and Alexander wasn’t able to keep up. Cole defeated him with a Heisman Kick. But Pretty Bad Deal struck again, attacking Cole after the match and threatening to injure him severely. Luckily for Cole, though, he had one of the biggest surprises of the season waiting in the wings. His brother Eric hit the ring to a massive crowd roar, chasing PBD off and allowing Derrick to stand. The two brothers, once one of the most feared tag teams on the Underground, celebrated together for the first time in GAW.
In the main event, Ramon Gutierrez tries to earn a shot at the RAW Title as promised by Omega Woods. He would have to do it in a gauntlet match starting with Ulysses Sky. The winner would move on to face a mystery contender and Gutierrez left no doubt as to who deserved to move on as he ended Sky with a bicycle knee strike.
The mystery opponent turned out to be Xavier Cross, the vicious brawler who also wants to prove himself to Omega Woods. The Cross-Gutierrez match was far more competitive than Ramon’s first contest but it was clear the luchador’s energy level was dipping and Cross smelled blood in the water. Cross tried to turn that into a spot at 7 Days but Gutierrez had just a bit more fight in him. He got the advantage with attacks on the outside of the ring then finished Cross off with a Derota inside the ropes to lock up his spot against Omega Woods next week!
