US AND WORLD TITLES UP FOR GRABS!
Ember Moon announced last week she would defend the US Title on an open contract and she made good this week as the ever-popular Priscilla Kelly showed up to challenge the champion. This was Moon’s most comprehensive title defense yet- and her longest to date- as Kelly pushed her to the brink. Moon survived everything Kelly had to throw at her and eventually hit the dreaded Eclipse to win and retain. After the match, though, world-renowned fighter Sonya Deville announced she is coming back to GAW.
Elsewhere, Aleister Black confirms the House of Black will debut its newest tag team next week against the Lucha Brothers.
Roderick Strong came up just short in his bid for the Intercontinental Title last season; Jay White has come up short on nearly half a dozen occasions fighting for the World Title. Now the two will face off for a chance to fight Adam Cole for the top prize in the game. Strong made the first splash early with the End of Heartache but White survived. Strong did not give up, however, using his trademark lighting-fast speed to outwork White and hit a second End of Heartache for the win. Adam Cole spoke right after the match on the state of the Black and Gold but, notably, did not mention Strong’s win.
As Cole promised, Black and Gold iron sharpens iron and we got to see that first-hand in a tag match as Gallus makes their GAW debut against Moustache Mountain. Joe Coffey and Wolfgang are two of the most intimidating men in the game and they showed why they’ll be great additions to Cole’s group in a comprehensive victory over Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. All four men in the match knew each other very well, but Gallus had the momentum and the strength advantage and they used it to get the win.
Will Ospreay has heard Davey Richards’ criticisms of him and will not back down from his claim to the MLW and WCPW titles.
In the main event, Kacy Catanzaro puts the World Title on the line against Taya Valkyrie in a match the champ asked for specifically. Valkyrie surprised everyone by turning up the pace immediately against the best female athlete in wrestling but Catanzaro had a gear even the Queen of Queens wasn’t prepared for. The champ blitzed Valkyrie, hitting a physics-defying 630 for the win in an unexpectedly fast and furious match. But just when Catanzaro was having her well-deserved celebration, her old nemesis Dakota Kai jumped her with a kendo stick and beat her down. Kai left Catanzaro for dead and hoisted the World Title high as if she were the conquering hero.
