WING COLLECTORS AND GIBSON TRY TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT

Before any of the official action can kick off, Yun-Son Park and Igris are back brawling in the parking lot, threatening to do each other lasting harm. Before Igris can land some potentially crushing blows, though, Commissioner Jason Parker gets involved. He holds Igris back and announces the two men will fight in the main event of Evolution next week. Later on, we learned that match would be a #1 contender’s match to the Apex Championship!

In our first bout of the night, the Wing Collectors return to action for the first time in nearly a year to take on Trained to Go. The former champs seem to have barely taken a step back, demonstrating the fluid communication and fast attacks that gripped GAW fans all last season. But just when it seemed like Eric Cole had gotten the better of Franky Omega to open up a tag to Derrick, TJ Frost showed up and pulled Derrick down from the apron. Eric was left with nowhere to go and Omega finished him off with a vicious stomp. The Wing Collectors win their first match back but it wasn’t as convincing as it may have been thanks to TJ Frost. Later in the show, Eric and Derrick would challenge the new LVC to a trios match and promised their third would finally put an end to all this LVC talk.

Santanico and Ulysses Sky renew hostilities and the match, frankly, was as one-sided as ever. Sky got off to a good start but Santanico quickly threw him outside and viciously attacked him. Sky managed to get back in the ring only to be dropped with a Crimson Coronation for the Santanico win.

After the match, Mr. Sinister made his first appearance since Takahashi’s debut match and the mysterious man is, as ever, very high on Takahashi now and in the future. We learned the rookie would be fighting in his second match when Dark returns on Wednesday.

Evolution sends its next representative to the Challenger Briefcase Ladder Match as Chandler Marcy takes on Flyboy. Both men had opportunities to win the match but both the Flyboy Bomb and Marcy Bomb were met with close kickouts. Finally, Flyboy opened up Marcy and hit him with his spectacular Air Drop neckbreaker to get the upset win and punch his ticket to Winterfest.

In the main event, Garrett Gibson and Kurt Andrews meet for the title once again and for the first time since they fought over who would become the first recognized Apex Champion. Although much has changed since then, these two men still no each other extremely well and it showed. The match was dead even with neither man able to grab even a slight advantage. It was a Garrett Gibson powerbomb that opened up a little space for the challenger, but just when it seemed as though Gibson could press his advantage, the old Andrews ways kicked in. Andrews pulled the ref in front of a tower Gibson flying axe handle which sent the ref careening to the outside. As Gibson tried to follow up on Andrews, the champ’s Rookie of the Year draft pick Wolf Stormsong hit the ring and cracked Gibson with a chair. He hit a pedigree on top of the chair, leaving Gibson dazed and out of the match completely. When Stormsong bailed, Andrews tossed the unaware ref back inside the ropes and dropped Gibson with the Eye of the Storm to win and retain the Apex Championship. The dirty win confirms it will be Garrett Gibson against Eddie Hernandez at Winterfest.
