ULTIMATE FLIGHT TAKE FLIGHT
We’ve already seen Max Ultimate stun the world by upsetting the former three-time Apex Champion Kurt Andrews. Surely he couldn’t do it again when he takes on Kurt’s ultra-dangerous brother Devon. That’s what we all thought. But in reality, Ultimate’s toughness and belief couldn’t be grounded even by the stiff strikes of Devon Andrews. Like he did to Kurt, Ultimate got Andrews up on his shoulders and mashed him with the Max Damage to win his second straight match.
Island Nation is back to a roaring ovation as they take on the always dangerous Brain Busters. It’s a final tune up before the Nation fights for the Tag Team Titles next week and the duo proved they are more than ready for the challenge the Demon Wolves present. It was classic isolation and domination from the islanders whose experience and power were too much for the newer duo to handle. Kobayashi took the victory this time, knocking Sykko out with the Dragon Lariat to win.
We learn the rest of the field for the Wrestling World Cup next season and there were certainly some surprises in the mix. Wrestling powerhouse Canada will join the fray that already features some of the most wrestling-crazed nations in the world. But the Canadians will be joined by Australia, China and American Samoa. All we can say for sure is these three underdogs will show up ready to take on the world next season. We also got to hear from Mexico’s team captain Rey Mysterio.
Next up, former champions do battle as Katherine Sakamoto takes on Kaitlyn Dunlap still trying to recover from her defeat at the hands of Yamamoto. Unfortunately for Dunlap, this was one of those days where Katherine decided she was going to prove why she was such a feared wrestler coming into GAW. Within two minutes, Katherine had locked Dunlap in a reverse Muta Lock, choked her unconscious and pinned to win.
Backstage, Yun-Son Park pleads with his best friend Eddie Hernandez to exercise caution when dealing with Dagonite and Reaper District 7. Hernandez, while he trusts Park, still seemed too passionate about what happened to listen to his friend’s sage advice.
In the main event, the dreaded and dangerous Sam Hunt returns to GAW to take on Ramon Gutierrez. For many, this match was a forgone conclusion. But it didn’t happen that way. Gutierrez refused to give up, using his speed to stay away from everything Hunt tried to do. Hunt, though, remained confident he could beat the much smaller man. But Gutierrez used that confidence against him, popping up and destroying him with a double thrust kick to win and hand Hunt his first loss in GAW. A shocking result to cap off the night.
