CHAMPS SPEAK, A NITRO SPOT ON THE LINE
Last week, Lancelot and Jason Parker announced the creation of GAW Evolution; this week it becomes official. Kicking us off this week is Omega Woods vs Lee Carr, two men who have had major issues with Sam Hunt in the recent past. No one could find Hunt so these two decided to keep their skills sharp with a match. Unfortunately for Carr, he couldn’t pull off a classic Carr upset as Woods locked him a big swing around the ring for the win. But after the match, Sam Hunt did make an appearance. He appeared right in front of Woods, hit the Thrill of the Hunt and left as quick as he came.
The new sensation in the tag ranks Eddie Hernandez and Yun-Son Park take on Island Nation with the backdrop of the Wing Collectors not being able to figure things out between themselves. Both teams smelled blood in the water meaning this match had more than just a victory on the line. After a 10 minute battle it seemed Yamamoto Kobayashi had put away the match as he shocked Yun-Son Park with a Graveyard Shift. But it took too long to drag Park away from Hernandez allowing Park to kick out at the last second. Park used his last bit of energy to tag in Hernandez who dropped Kobayashi. Park sent Eddie Tonga flying out of the ring as Hernandez hit the Speakeasy for the victory.
Backstage, the Wing Collectors see the whole tag division believes they’re easy targets and Franky Omega says they need to get a title defense under their belts before Nitro. Andrew Wesley, while resistant to the idea that they could be in trouble at Nitro, eventually agreed. Later in the show, we learned it will be Park and Hernandez vs the Wing Collectors for the Tag Team titles next week on Evolution! But after all this, Oliver Parker promised he would deal with Andrew Wesley in a cryptic message. As Parker says, “the past never dies.”
The Lone Star has his toughest test yet against LVC’s Marco Diaz. Diaz is the most polished and experienced competitor the Lone Star has seen yet in his young career but there was absolutely no difference in the way the Texan approached this match. His captive knee strike didn’t do the job against Diaz but it didn’t matter as he drilled Diaz with one of the most vicious discus lariats you will ever see for the win.
Backstage, Lancelot points out that, even though he won the right for Evolution to have one of its matches main event Nitro 11, he doesn’t have an opponent for his championship. It doesn’t seem to worry him as he still believes he will make history at the event, but he challenged anyone in the company to step up to him. We got the announcement of a four way dance next week for the right to face Lancelot at Nitro; the match will include Lieter, Lee Carr and Jackel.
In the main event, Santanico and Igris battle for their own Nitro spot challenging for the RAW Title. Santanico was the odds-on favorite to win this tournament, Igris has made a dream run to the finals, but only three seconds separates either man from the biggest match of their careers. Santanico broke out a Sleepwalker during the match in a clear message to the current RAW champ but Igris survived it. He could not survive the Crimson Coronation however as Santanico continued his undefeated season and ended Igris’s cinderella run.
But the show didn’t end there. Backstage, Yamamoto and Queen Alexia were engaged in a vicious brawl stemming from Alexia’s attack on Moto after the main event last week. The Show went off the air as the two brawled.
Next week the Wing Collectors try to get things figured out as they battle Eddie Hernandez and Yun-Son Park PLUS Lancelot gets his Nitro opponent!
