YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHO SHOWED UP
Northern Lights is finally here and it begins with one of the biggest moments in GAW history.
We begin the event with the Challenger Briefcase ladder match featuring six men looking for their first shot at a world title. But when the fifth man, Shelton Benjamin, entered he changed everything. He had talked to friends about the opportunities available to them in GAW and they had listened. Then… the unthinkable happened.
Brock Lesnar, one of the greatest athletes of all time, strode out to the ring in place of Kofi Kingston. It was one of the biggest moments in the history of GAW, it changed GAW forever. Brock Lesnar has arrived.
The ladder match went as expected: Lesnar was the target of all five men. He fought them all off, hitting F5s, suplexes and powerbombs to raucous fan reactions. After Lesnar had destroyed everything in the ring, he hit the patented triple powerbombs on Will Ospreay and made the climb. Several men ran back into the ring to try to stop him but the Beast would not be denied. Brock Lesnar wins the Challenger Briefcase.
Jackel and Ramon Gutierrez had the task of following one of the biggest moments in GAW history. Their match was intense as we expected but it was clear Jackel’s killer instinct made him a more dangerous opponent. He pinned Gutierrez with a vicious powerbomb to pick up another victory. After the match, Jackel walked over to his downed opponent and ripped his mask off in a disgusting act. That makes two masks taken by Jackel in just two months.
Sophia Sweetness came back to prove she is truly better than former champ Lazzara. There’s no doubt she is far better than we’ve ever seen her; the rookie has come a very long way since she debuted. But Lazzara was right: she hadn’t taught Sophia everything she knew. After a nearly ten-minute battle, Lazzara hit the Make My Fortune and got the pin with just seconds left. Sophia looked like a different wrestler than we’ve ever seen but Lazzara is still one of the best in the world.
Our first title match sees Ember Moon challenge Dakota Kai for the Women’s World Title. Even though Moon beat Kai a few weeks ago, you could tell from the beginning this was a different champ than we’ve seen before. She hit the Kairopractor early on Moon to set the tempo and never let the challenger hit the dangerous Eclipse. The second Kairopractor got the job done for the champ to retain.
Our final match of Night 1 came with the Wing Collectors finally getting their chance against the Titans with the Titans Rules banned. But, as always, Lieter had a very unpleasant surprise before the match. He said that Jason Parker may have banned the Titans Rules, but he did not ban the Titan’s Rules. Somehow this was deemed acceptable and the Titans were allowed to win the match on a two count.
The following match was one of the best tag matches we’ve seen in GAW. With their backs against the wall, the Wing Collectors fought valiantly against all odds. They came dangerously close to winning the titles but the Titans could not be denied. They finally hit the Doomsday Device to retain. It’s a match well worth your time!
Night 2 will be headlined by Bandido and Rey Mysterio teaming up for the first time in GAW to take on Conor McGregor and Bobby Lashley!
