AN OPEN CONTRACT?!
After a one-month layoff, Storm is back in a big way! On the final show before Winterfest we get some of the biggest announcements yet!
The show begins with Jay White calling out World Champion Brock Lesnar. White claimed Damian Martinez is not a true challenge for Lesnar so the Switchblade wants a chance at one of the most prolific world champions in GAW history. We learned later on in the show that, not only did Lesnar and Paul Heyman accept, they have made the match for the main event tonight!
The first match sees Ronda Rousey go up against Tegan Nox ahead of Rousey’s World Title challenge at Winterfest. The Rowdy one demonstrated her power and skill with a quick win over Nox, locking her in the dreaded armbar for the win. After the match, Kai tried to come down for a cheap shot on Rousey but the former US champion was too quick. Kai backed away without taking a swing at Rousey. We learned later on that Rousey’s career vs title match with Kai will be in a steel cage in the main event of Winterfest!
Backstage, the Usos call out the Skymen and demand a rematch, a courtesy the Usos gave to nearly everyone they fought. The new champs didn’t give a response but they did attack the former champs from behind, presumably in an attempt to injure them before the match at Winterfest.
Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes tested themselves in a near-10 minute bout that both men were desperate to win. In the end, McIntyre nearly beheaded Rhodes with a Claymore to pick up the victory.
Roderick Strong looked to prove one more time how much of a threat he is to Bandido against Matt Riddle. In a back and forth match, it was the methodical and intelligent attack of Strong that won out. The Messiah of the Backbreaker acted exactly as his name suggests, targeting the back of Riddle to soften him up for a brutal powerbomb. Bandido has been unbeatable in season 2 but Strong may present the toughest challenge the Intercontinental Champion has faced yet.
Backstage, a long-standing friendship ends in bloodshed. Rey Mysterio found Hernandez to warn him he will not be allowed to interfere in Rosita’s US Title match at Winterfest. Hernandez retorted by telling Mysterio to stay out of his business. After an intense exchange of words, they finally came to blows as Hernandez leveled the lucha legend with a knee to the face. Mysterio will return to GAW singles competition for the first time since 2018 at Winterfest!
In the main event, Brock Lesnar defends his World Championship yet again, this time against Jay White. The champ surprised everyone by taking this match with an hour’s notice but it clearly wasn’t an issue for Lesnar. The Beast dominated the Switchblade, taking the multiple-time world title challenger to Suplex City before planting him with an F5 for the win. After the match, Paul Heyman took the mic and announced an open contract for anyone in the world at Winterfest. Who will answer the challenge? Who even wants to answer the challenge against a man as dominant as Lesnar?
We’ll find out at Winterfest beginning Monday, December 6. Make sure you subscribe to catch the biggest party of the winter!
