FRIDAY NIGHT STORM IS GOING INSANE!
Before the show truly gets underway, we see Shayna Baszler in an apparent secret pep talk with Ronda Rousey backstage. Baszler continues to drill into Ronda that the World Champ shouldn’t be afraid of anyone but it’s clear Rousey would’ve preferred anyone else to Kacy Catanzaro. Baszler will have her own issues later on…
The first match sees Chris Sabin return to the GAW singles arena for the first time in over three years against former TNA foe Suicide. Sabin was looking to bounce back after an unsuccessful challenge for the Intercontinental Championship (though he wasn’t involved in the decision). He certainly did make up for that loss with a convincing win over the masked man, hitting him with two Sabilizers and a Cradle Shock for the win. After the match, however, Sabin’s celebration quickly turned sour. Paul Heyman walked to the top of the ramp with new champion Moose and, to make a long story short, warned Chris Sabin to not come after the White Company’s newest champion.
Backstage, Jay White continues to try to drive the knife into Keith Lee’s back as he further pushed the narrative that Lee is mentally fragile and lacks confidence.
US Champion Shayna Baszler is in non title action against fan favorite Kairi Sane. The two locked horns over the US Title a couple months ago, now Sane hopes to punch a ticket to Nitro with a win here. Baszler had other plans as she locked in the Kirufuda Clutch for the win. But before she could even get her arm raised, Ember Moon ran out to the ring and the two brawled all over the ringside area. It seems Baszler might have a new challenger…
Backstage, Keith Lee responds to White and assures us his goal is to inspire and, now that he himself has become inspired, no one can stop him. But before he can finish his heartfelt message, the evil Jay White attacked him, smashing his head into the concrete and trying to break his back with a back suplex. The GAW Classic Finals go down next week!
Zack Sabre Jr saved Will Ospreay from a potentially career-altering attack at the hands of the Las Vegas Connection at Battlefield. Now the two team up for the first time in their careers to take on the B Team. This has been a year of new tag teams and these two have apparently gelled together as well as any. Ospreay fought out of the enemy corner, knocked out Curtis Axel with a punch, then tagged in ZSJ to hit a tremendous assisted neckbreaker for the win.
But the new team is not the only one with eyes on the biggest show of the year. Former two-time champions the Usos released a video making it clear they will be back and they intend to win the titles at Nitro for a second straight year.
In the main event, Brock Lesnar goes for his astonishing 11th defense of the World Title he won in September as he took on Matt Riddle. In the time it took you to read that sentence, Lesnar hit the F5 and won in the fastest World Title defense in GAW history. After the match, thigns got even wilder…. The lights went out and Aleister Black came down. But he didn’t enter the ring; instead, he picked up Matt Riddle and carried him away to end the show…
Next week, Keith Lee and Jay White will battle for the GAW Classic title and a chance to go to Nitro 11!
