A DOZEN RECORD BROKEN

We’ve officially entered the home stretch to Nitro 12 but we begin this show with a match that may have even further reaching implications. Rey Mysterio tries to regain the stolen GAW Cruiserweight Championship from Swerve Strickland and this was a throwback to the GAW cruiserweight matches of old. It’s well worth your time to watch if you’re missing some world class cruiserweight wrestling. And we may very well be getting more soon. Because Swerve Strickland, even after the JML Driver wasn’t enough, hit a jaw-dropping high cross with a pin combination to win. Mysterio, the most decorated cruiserweight in GAW history, was true to his word. He found Jason Parker later in the show and requested that Parker use his influence to bring the Cruiserweight Championship officially back. Parker agreed.

Elsewhere, Aleister Black challenged MCMG to a title match but for two different titles. Either the GAW legends could fight for the Tag Team Titles or Chris Sabin could try to take his revenge on Intercontinental Champion Matt Riddle.

The GAW Classic continues as Will Ospreay battles Damian Martinez. Two years ago, the size disparity between these two would have been a serious cause for concern. Not anymore for the double champ Ospreay who dealt with Martinez’s attacks with relative ease. Ospreay won the match with the Chaos Project to go 2-0 in Group 2. A clash with Bandido to win the group looms.

Lacey Evans begins the US Title Barnstorm by taking on Chicago native Kylie Rae. It was entirely possible that the Barnstorm could have ended where it began and that possibility nearly became reality after two superkicks from Rae. But Evans survived and hit a massive M9 to win and retain.

We get introduced to Team Japan as we approach the Wrestling World Cup. Katsuyori Shibata will captain a squad that features the legendary Kazuchika Okada as well as relative surprise call ups Tetsuya Naito, SANADA and Lars Nightfall who was born in the land of the rising sun.

In the main event we see one of the most incredible matches we have ever seen. Kacy Catanzaro was quick to accept Charlotte Flair’s challenge to an ironwoman match and we saw why Catanzaro was so confident. The reigning champ put together possibly the most dominant performance in the history of GAW, rivaling Asuka’s eight second win at Nitro 9. In 20 minutes, Catanzaro scored 15 pinfalls or submissions to Charlotte Flair’s one. Catanzaro set records for most points in an ironman, most submissions, quickest to five points, quickest to 10 and largest margin of victory. Simply put, it was the biggest statement win we’ve ever seen in General Admission Wrestling.
