WALTER COMES BACK FOR CODY RHODES!

We got a big announcement this week as we confirm GAW Afterparty is returning! Coming to you on May 28, Afterparty is one of our favorite events and this year it promises to be better than ever!

This episode begins with Damian Martinez addressing why he came to GAW when he did. Martinez said he was terrified at the prospect of a man as dangerous and despicable as Jay White finding more success in GAW so he came to stop that in its tracks. And because Drew McIntyre got involved last week, Martinez will come after him too.

Our first match was a four way dance to decide who will face Charlotte Flair for US Title #1 contendership next week. Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir and Kairi Sane battled for the honor. Baszler eliminated Duke with the Kirifuda Clutch but then was shocked by Shafir with a beautiful slam to leave us with Shafir and Sane. Sane notched the final elimination with a cloverleaf to secure her spot against Charlotte Flair next week.

Backstage, Bianca Belair promised to be the “EST of the USA” and do far more for the US Title than Tegan Nox ever did.

Shane Thorne took on Rey Fenix in a battle of two tag team specialists. After multiple interferences by both Penta and Nick Miller but Shane Thorne proved why he and TMDK have become so much more dangerous than before as he nearly decapitated the former Tag Team Champion with a lariat. After the match, however, TMDK may have gotten more than they bargained for. The Usos addressed the Australians directly, challenging them to a falls count anywhere match at Afterparty!

Matt Riddle battled Tyler Bate and it was over almost as soon as it started. Riddle is on another level now and the question is where will he set his sights?

Backstage, Cody Rhodes says he’s proud to get a chance to face WALTER next week which was announced earlier. Rhodes says he just wanted to make his feelings clear last week and now wants to back that up in the ring. He was interrupted by World Champion Aleister Black who warned Cody WALTER may try to get a leg up before their match next week. Black promised to watch Cody’s back in his match next and Cody would need it…

Our main event sees Cody Rhodes take on Zack Sabre Jr in a battle of world class technical masterminds. The match was as good as advertised but it didn’t exactly end as planned. As Cody prepared to hit the Cross Rhodes, WALTER’s music hit. The Ring General tried to sneak into the ring, presumably to rough up his future opponent, but Black had outsmarted him. The champ intercepted his rival, delivering a jaw-clattering Black Mass and sending WALTER away. Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes to win and stand tall.
