NIGEL MCGUINNESS HAS COME TO GAW

The show begins with Nigel McGuinness, one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of the sport. Nigel thanked the fans, first and foremost, for allowing him the opportunity at a second chance. He said he was working as a coach in the GAW Academy for a few years when he got the “itch” to wrestle again while helping Will Ospreay prepare for Nitro 12. The fans went ballistic as McGuinness confirmed he was back to take the title of “King of Europe” from Drew McIntyre. Later in the show, though, we saw William Regal intimidate a doctor into revealing Nigel hasn’t been cleared to wrestle in GAW yet.

The US Title Barnstorm returns in Phoenix as Lacey Evans goes for the record for most defenses in a US Title reign. Phoenix native Penelope Ford came out to challenge and she gave Evans maybe the toughest match of her reign so far. Ford’s speed and athleticism made it difficult for Evans to land anything. But finally, Ford made a mistake going for a fisherman’s suplex. Evans backed away and dropped Ford with the M9 for her historic seventh title defense.

Damian Martinez steps in against Pete Dunne in Dunne’s return after being attacked by the Black and Gold last season. Dunne was as energetic and frenetic as we’ve ever seen him, clearly looking to make a statement after the attack. But for all his energy, he clearly hasn’t totally recovered from the Black and Gold attack. Martinez got a few massive shots in before winning with the Razor’s Edge.

It’s main event time already: Guerillas of Destiny vs House of Black. Lashley and Nakamura are back for the first time since being cheated out of their titles at Nitro and they haven’t lost a step. The chemistry and power is still there and that’s how they won this match. Bobby Lashley took care of Tama Tonga on the outside, allowing Nakamura to hit the Bomayae on Tonga Loa to win. After the match, though, the Good Brothers popped on the big screen. They said, in no uncertain terms, they would not allow the House of Black another shot at the tag championships. If we anything about the House, though, it’s that they can’t be denied for long.
