REDEMPTION'S HOPE IS CRUSHED
Northern Lights changed so much. The Academy got its first ever recognized champion back and he had some help making that happen. Kurt Andrews made his way down to the ring to begin Stormchaser and quickly called out his brother Devon. The elder Andrews chided us fans for taking Twitter to seriously and affirmed “blood is thicker than water.” Kurt said he was happy to represent the Academy once again. But here to spoil the good time was Lancelot. We had wondered for so long when he’d set his sights on the title and now appears to be the time.
Our first match sees Omega Woods, fresh off a last man standing win over Yun-Son Park, take on Eddie Tonga of Island Nation. Tonga put up a hell of a fight against one of the most dangerous men in the Academy but it was not quite enough in the end. Woods hit the Gunslinger for the win.
Backstage, the Wing Collectors vent their frustration with the Titans and demand Jason Parker have a plan for how to deal with the intransigent team.
Marco Diaz made his debut at Northern Lights and came up just short against RAW Champion MidNight. Now he’s back with LVC teammate Derrick Cole to take on former football standout Chandler Marcy. Much like the first match, this was a near 50/50 contest. But in the end, after surviving a Marcy Bomb, Diaz hit a hellacious Lasting Effect kick to get the victory. After the match we got confirmation Derrick Cole will return to action next week.
In our main event, Ramon Gutierrez and Lee Carr fight for redemption after both men lost at Northern Lights. After two very even high quality matches, this topped the night. It’s worth watching this match if you haven’t seen it already. Gutierrez, now unmasked following the events of Northern Lights, survived two Green Outs to hit his second Derota and pick up the win.
But the night was not over.
The lights went out. When they came back on, Sam Hunt stood behind Gutierrez. Hunt, widely known as one of the most brutal and dangerous men in wrestling, destroyed the young luchador. He hit a Thrill of the Hunt to cap it all off in one of the most shocking attacks we’ve seen on a GAW program.
As we await an answer next week, MidNight will defend his RAW Title in the main event against Yamamoto Kobayashi.
